Application and Analysis of Wind Profiler Observation on Air Quality

Absrtact
The main goals of this project are developing the air pollution application system based on the EPA wind profiler and set up its QA/QC data base. In our work, at first the boundary layer height and ventilation coefficient (vc) are calculated from Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) which observed by wind profiler, and these two parameters are established to be indicators of air pollution warning. Also to assistant the operation of EPA wind profiler, international cooperation and wind profiler display system are required. According to the statistic results of time-lag correlation coefficient from vc v.s. O3 and vc v.s. PM10, this study found the coefficient before 3 hours (+3 hours) reaches or over 0.5 frequently during series air pollution episodes. This result indicates we have good opportunity to build up a warning indicator based on vc. Meanwhile, this project completed the display and storage data base that could show the wind profiler data in the website of EPA. We also get good international collaboration with WINDAS, Kyoto University, National Institute of Environmental Studies (NIES) in Japan and Yogi Vemana University in India, all of these visiting and negotiation are important processes before the environmental protection cooperation meeting between Taiwan and Japan.
